Dun & Bradstreet offers business information services to its customers, and is headquartered in Short Hills, New Jersey. D&B can trace its origins to July 20, 1841 when the Mercantile Agency in New York City was formed by Lewis Tappan. Later the company took the name R.G. Dun and Company. It was created to establish a network of correspondents to produce reliable and objective credit information. In 1933 Dun joined with its competitor John M. Bradstreet forming the modern Dun & Bradstreet that we have today.
